Since endometriosis seems to be renting my body until menopause, I thought it would be appropriate to share some quotes from Rent. (I'm talking about the movie version). Rent is a movie that never fails to lift my spirits when I'm feeling down or lets me have a good cry when I need it to come out, and helps me feel inspiration when I need it most. I think I was feeling or needing all of those things so I watched it this weekend. (The movie is about people living with AIDS, so any reference to death has nothing to do with me or my thoughts). Granted, these are out of context and hard to understand without seeing the movie/show but it's my blog and they make me feel good so here are some of my favorite quotes:
Seasons of Love: "Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear. Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes - how do you measure a year in the life? How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love... seasons of love."
One Song, Glory: "Find one song, one last refrain, glory, from the pretty boy front man... who wasted opportunity... One song - he had the world at his feet - glory, in the eyes of a young girl... Find glory beyond the cheap, colored lights, one song before the sun sets - glory on another empty life, time flies... time dies. Find the one song before the virus takes hold, glory, like a sunset. One song to redeem this empty life! Time flies, and then no need to endure anymore! Time dies."
"How do you document real life when real life's getting more like fiction each day?"
What You Own: "We're dying in America at the end of the millennium. We're dying in America to come into our own. And when you're dying in America, at the end of the millennium, you're not alone."
Life Support: "I try to open up to what I don't know, because reason says I should have died three years ago..."
Will I: "Will I lose my dignity, will someone care? Will I wake tomorrow from this nightmare? Will I lose my dignity, will someone care? Will I wake tomorrow from this nightmare? Will I lose my dignity, will someone care? Will I wake tomorrow from this nightmare?"
Finale B/No Day But Today: "There's only us, There's only this, Forget regret, Or life is your to miss, No other road, No other way, No day but today."
Seasons of Love: "Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. Five hundred twenty-five thousand journeys to plan. Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?"
